05.10.2016

On October 5, 2016 the representatives of the international consortium developing Badra oilfield in Iraq took part in the traditional ceremony of delivering gifts to Iraqi pupils. The ceremony was held on the occasion of the beginning of the new school year.

The consortium was represented by “Gazprom Neft Badra” managing director Sergei Karavaev, the head of the Joint Management Committee (Central Oil Company) Jamal Aziz, the head of the Joint Venture Badra (Malaysian Petronas) Yuzaini Md Yusof, the head of Badra Municipal Council Hassan Karim Dosh and Badra mayor Jaafar Mulla Mohammad.

In his speech during the ceremony in Badra Youth Club S.Karavaev pointed out the importance of social development programs in the regions neighboring to the concession areas for “Gazprom Neft”. The company pays much attention to improving the quality of life of local people and environment protection, said he.

This year the consortium presented its gifts to more than 1200 pupils. The hall of Badra Youth Club could not accept all the pupils, so only a small part of them was present. Most of them were from one of Badra schools to which “Gazprom Neft Badra” constructed news buildings in 2014 within the consortium’s social contribution program.

“Gazprom Neft Badra” has constructed three school buildings in the region neighboring to the concession area: two in Badra and one in Jissan. The ceremony of schoolbags delivery is organized by the company annually in the beginning of each school year.
